My name is Dave Lucas and I have been working in the steelwork industry for the past 32 years, both on the shop floor, Project Managing and as Operations Manager of a medium-sized company. I took the plunge a number of years ago, and started own my own business, which along with my wife Jane, a budding trainee fabricator and very able right-hand woman, am looking forward to being able to assist in your metalwork needs.
DJL Fabrication can carry out the fabrication and installation of any small to medium structures, balconies, hand-railing, etc, in mild steel, aluminium or stainless, and if required take care of any glass or wood products associated with the steelwork. I have 32 years-worth of experience, knowledge and contacts, so if I am unable to help you directly, I usually know someone who can.
We work with main contractors – Sharemills, Dribuild, Britannia, Pyramid Construction, AJ Tension Structures, Architen Landrell, Base Structures, etc, where we have been involved in the construction of some quite substantial structures. We also do a lot of work for general builders, providing beams, goalposts, rebar cages, spreader beams, angles, and pretty much anything that is needed. I have recently purchased a pickup for the business, so can deliver if necessary to aid the progression on your project.
We have enjoyed some more artistic and unusual projects in our time also. A father brought in his son’s scooter to us and asked if we could extend it to make it more comfortable to ride as his son was rather tall for his age. We thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of making a set of gates to depict the Clifton Suspension Bridge, complete with old-fashioned rivets. We have fixed skips, diggers, and grabber claws for the waste company that share our estate. So as you can see, we will turn our hand to pretty much any challenge.
My workshop is based in Hallen, so is well-placed for both local work and easy motorway access for assignments further afield. We can accommodate approximately 15T of steel in one hit and am equipped with a 2T overhead crane, saw-line, punch and a variety of hand tools to enable us to deal with most tasks. If larger contracts are required in stages, then we would be able to accommodate these also.
For fabricated structural steelwork, CE Marking became mandatory on 1 July 2014. I have had my approval since that date, along with quality control ISO 9001.
We are a friendly, approachable team, so have a look at some of our past projects, email, phone, or pop by. The kettle can always be pulled into action.
We look forward to working with you.
